Bunker Museum IJmuiden

The Bunker Museum IJmuiden is a war museum located in the recreational area of IJmuiden aan Zee in the North Holland town of IJmuiden. It opened its doors in 2005 and is situated within the military bunkers belonging to the Marine Coastal Battery Heerenduin, which is a German bunker complex from World War II. The museum is managed by the WN2000 Foundation.

In September 2005, the museum opened its doors for the first time, using one bunker as an exhibition space. In the spring of 2006, the museum expanded to include a second bunker. Since the spring of 2009, a third bunker has served as the museum's entrance. Following the summer of 2009, the museum transformed into an open-air museum by creating trenches in the dunes adjacent to the museum. This expansion also added two more bunkers and a former searchlight emplacement to the museum. A partially covered trench connects all the museum bunkers. Another addition is the wreckage of a German mini-submarine, a Seehund, which has been displayed on the central grounds since 2014. Additionally, various types of beach defenses are exhibited in the outdoor area.

The museum does not receive subsidies and relies on contributions from donors and visitors.
