Access to the museum is by appointment and free, but donations are welcome. Donations go to the Foundation: "The Years 1940-1945, The Years Dutch East Indies." This Foundation is responsible for the preservation and management of the collection. Additionally, the Foundation aims to ensure that the collection is made available for educational purposes and public viewing.
In addition to the usual items found in a war museum, such as uniforms, equipment, radio apparatus, and photos, significant attention is given to the everyday aspects that had a profound impact on the daily lives of both civilians and soldiers at the front. These include necessary documents, permits, ration cards, as well as a lot of rations and food supplies.
Our collection is, of course, never complete, and we receive new large and small acquisitions every week. This allows us to complement or exchange items. Often, items are still tucked away in attics, sheds, or even in homes. Things that are never used and would otherwise be discarded over time. We are interested in anything related to the war or Dutch East Indies, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. To us and our visitors, it can be very interesting.
