Bevrijdingsplaquette, Delfzijl

The Liberation plaque (Bevrijdingsplaquette) serves as a reminder to the people of Delfzijl of the city's liberation on April 16, 1945, achieved by the 5th Canadian Armoured Division.

The text on the plaque reads:

‘IN COMMEMORATION OF
THE LIBERATION OF DELFZIJL
MAY 1945
THE CAPE BRETON HIGHLANDERS
5TH CANADIAN ARMOURED DIVISION’.

The memorial plaque is located in the lobby of the Delfzijl City Hall, situated at Johan van den Kornputplein.
