Experience the ambiance of World War II in a quaint village on the outskirts of the Peel region. German soldiers were stationed here to operate a searchlight, which was a crucial part of their defense against the Allies.
The Wehrmacht House (De Wehrmacht Huisje) tells the compelling story of the aerial battles over the Peel and how it serves as a central hub for numerous monuments scattered across the area's crash sites. You can explore the narratives of eyewitnesses and former residents who, due to post-war housing shortages, once called the Wehrmacht House home.
Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to admire an authentic German searchlight, thanks to the contribution of the Liberation Wings Museum in Best.
The Wehrmacht House does not have fixed opening hours. It is possible to visit the Wehrmacht House. For groups of 5 or more people, this can only be done by appointment, which includes a guided tour (approximately 1 hour). For individuals and small groups of up to 4 people, specific days are scheduled for visiting the Wehrmacht House. Information about these days will be announced on our website and social media.
The Wehrmacht House is located on private property and is not freely accessible. Please respect the privacy of the local residents and do not enter the Wehrmacht House property without an appointment.
