Atlantikwall Museum Den haag-Kijkduin

The Atlantikwall Museum Den haag is responsible for preserving several original German bunkers from World War II. The flagship of this museum is the command bunker within the Widerstandsnest 318 complex (Verteidigungsstab Badhuisweg). Additionally, there is a personnel bunker in this complex, and they've made a toilet bunker accessible to visitors. On regular open days, you can explore the command bunker, and knowledgeable volunteers are on hand to provide information and address any questions.

Widerstandsnest 318 Scheveningen

The primary museum location, within this foundation, is an authentically furnished command bunker of type 608 (Battalion, Division, or Regimental Combat Post). During World War II, the occupying forces used this bunker and nearby villas to command military operations in Stützpunkgruppe Scheveningen. The bunker is largely preserved in its original state, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience a tangible piece of history. Moreover, there are original historical artifacts on display from German, British, Canadian, and American armed forces.

Personnel Bunker

Adjacent to the command bunker is a personnel bunker of type 622 (Double Group Shelter) located on Badhuisweg. Inside, you'll find a "time capsule": one of the two living spaces has been preserved with exclusively unrestored items, giving you a sense that the bunker has remained untouched since the end of World War II. In reality, most bunkers in the Netherlands were looted and stripped of valuable components after the war. The other living space serves as an exhibition area showcasing photographs, art, and historical objects.
