Algemene Begraafplaats Schoorl

The General Cemetery on Molenweg in the former Dutch municipality of Schoorl dates back to 1923 and is now part of the municipality of Bergen.

After King Willem I issued a Royal Decree in 1829 stating that municipalities with more than 1,000 inhabitants were no longer allowed to bury their dead within the built-up area, Schoorl and Groet decided to establish a general cemetery together. The road leading to it was called the "Doodweg" (Death Road), but is now known as Molenweg.

The cemetery is on the north-eastern outskirts of the village, on the Molenweg, a turning off of Laanweg. In the south eastern corner are the graves of 2 sailors and 1 airmen from the United Kingdom, and 1 unidentified soldier.
