Hidden in the dunes of Oostvoorne lies the Stelling Biberbunker, a German enclave consisting of approximately 97 structures and bunkers that served as a coordination center during the Air War. The Biberbunker is unique in the Netherlands; it's the only accessible bunker of its kind. The Biberbunker, managed by the Zuid-Hollands Landschap, can only be visited with the guidance of a guide.
This bunker complex was constructed in 1942-1943 and is concealed within the dunes of Oostvoorne. It is an enormous concrete structure with walls made of 3-meter thick concrete. The Biberbunker was built as a radar command post for the German Luftwaffe. From here, German soldiers took actions to intercept Allied bombers en route to Germany. After the war, the bunker also served as a command post for the Civil Defense (Bescherming Bevolking, BB).
