Bevrijdingsmuseum Zeeland

The Bevrijdingsmuseum Zeeland (Liberation Museum Zeeland) vividly presents the history of Zeeland during World War II, with a special focus on the pivotal "Battle of the Scheldt." This battle, often overlooked, was the longest and most intense conflict on Dutch soil and played a crucial role in reopening the port of Antwerp for Allied supply lines, reshaping the course of the war in Western Europe.

The museum also honors the Zeeland Battalion, a group of post-liberation volunteers who contributed to the liberation efforts in the Netherlands and beyond.

In addition to the museum, visitors can explore Liberation Park, a unique space showcasing the war's history and the Battle of the Scheldt. The park features a reconstructed emergency church, a Silent Wood for reflection, bunkers, a Bailey bridge, and more, set against the backdrop of Zeeland's natural elements.
