Museum Deelen

Established in 1913, Deelen Air Base initially served as a facility for border patrol missions. During World War II, when the Netherlands fell under German occupation, the Luftwaffe took control of the base, carrying out substantial expansions and enhancements. The airfield became home to aircraft like the Focke-Wulf Fw 190, Messerschmitt Bf 110, and Junkers Ju 88, and it saw the installation of anti-aircraft weaponry.

The museum features a diverse range of exhibitions centered on the history of the nearby Deelen Air Base. Significantly, the focus is on the air war during the period of 1940 to 1945. All the items on display, including photographs, documents, and uniforms, are genuine and often the result of extensive research efforts spanning several years. Additionally, considerable emphasis is given to the regional history in the vicinity of Schaarsbergen.
