It goes back to the tumultuous days of the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944. On 17 September the first Allied paratroopers landed not far from Oosterbeek, where Kate ter Horst lived with her family in the Old Vicarage beside the Old Church. At the request of the British Airborne troops she helped set up a first-aid post in her house. The antisipated victory failed to materialise and soon all the rooms were crammed wth wounded. Kate ter Horst did wat she could to help the heavily wounded Britsh ervicmen. The survivors never forgot her and calld he "The Angel of Arnhem".

Cloud over Arnhem: Oosterbeek September 1944 is the English edition of Kate Ter Horst’s wartime diary.
The diary is quite personal — it mixes factual accounts of the fighting and medical care with her emotional impressions, fears, and prayers, especially her repeated reading of Psalm 91 to the soldiers. It’s considered one of the most intimate civilian perspectives on Operation Market Garden, especially from someone directly in the front line.
