Dina Alberta Brechine Aikema, known as Dinie Aikema, was a Dutch teacher and member of the resistance during the Second World War. She was the daughter of carpenter Gerhardus Aikema and Maria Rienks. She married Jan Drent, but the marriage ended in divorce. During this period, she began a relationship with Gerrit Boekhoven, a fellow resistance fighter from Groningen who was also married.
Together, Aikema and Boekhoven lived at Nassauplein 33 in Groningen. During the war, they became active members of the resistance under the aliases “Mr. and Mrs. De Groot.” They formed part of the De Groot Group, a network engaged in producing forged documents, distributing ration cards, maintaining contact between resistance members, courier work, and recruiting new collaborators.
On 12 January 1945, Aikema and Boekhoven were arrested by the Sicherheitsdienst (SD). Under interrogation, Aikema—who was reportedly manipulated with alcohol and cigarettes and may have been assaulted—was forced to reveal information about her activities. As a result, nearly the entire De Groot Group, which had grown to about thirty members, was dismantled. Fewer than ten members survived the war.
On the evening of 24 March 1945, Aikema was executed in the Quintusbos near Glimmen by SD officer Harm Bouman, who shot her twice from behind. Just days earlier, Anda Kerkhoven had been executed at the same location, and Gerrit Boekhoven had been shot at the Vosbergen estate in Eelde.
All three were later reinterred at the Noorderbegraafplaats in Groningen.
Her story is often mentioned alongside those of Gerrit Boekhoven and Anda Kerkhoven, who shared her fate.
