Rosenstrasse (2003)

When Ruth's husband dies in 2000, she observes strict Jewish mourning, puzzling her children. A cousin arrives with a photo of young Ruth in Berlin, hinting at a woman who helped her escape. Hannah, Ruth's daughter, heads to Berlin to find Lena Fisher, now 90. Posing as a journalist, Hannah interviews Lena, who recounts a 1943 story of Jewish husbands detained in Berlin and their Aryan wives' daily protests on Rosenstrasse. The film weaves Ruth and Lena's narratives, revealing a family's untold history that profoundly impacts Hannah's understanding of her heritage and future.
