During World War II, in a small French village occupied by the German army, a local woman engages in a secret love affair with a soldier, resulting in the birth of their daughter, Helena. Tragedy strikes when the German soldiers are ambushed and killed by the French Resistance, their bodies dumped into a nearby lake.
A decade later, the slain soldiers inexplicably rise from the dead, transforming into an army of undead horrors that terrorize the village. The Mayor, who was once a member of the Resistance, takes charge. He assembles a group armed with a flamethrower to combat the living dead, and they enlist the help of Helena to confront this supernatural menace.
