Summer of '42 (1971)

In the serene setting of an American island during WWII, the film introduces us to day-dreamer Hermie and his companions, Oscy and Benjie, along with their parents. The war seems distant, and Oscy's preoccupation revolves around pursuing romantic encounters. However, Hermie experiences genuine love for the older Dorothy, who is married to an army pilot. When her husband is called back to the front, Hermie musters the courage to approach her, despite his shyness.
