Suite Française (2015)

France, 1940. In the early days of the occupation, Lucile Angellier (Michelle Williams) finds herself in a stifling situation with her controlling mother-in-law, Madame Angellier (Dame Kristin Scott Thomas). They anxiously await news of Lucile's husband, who is a prisoner of war. As Parisian refugees pour into their small town, it's followed by a regiment of German soldiers who take over the villagers' homes. Initially, Lucile tries to ignore Lieutenant Bruno von Falk (Matthias Schoenaerts), a handsome and cultured German officer residing with them. However, a powerful love soon blossoms between them, leading them into the tragic backdrop of war.
