Submarine Alert (1943)

Nazi spies get their hands on a stolen prototype of a shortwave transmitter, which they intend to use to broadcast highly classified shipping information to an offshore Japanese submarine. In order to dismantle the spy ring, the government takes a drastic step by dismissing the West Coast's leading radio engineers from their jobs and closely monitoring them to see if the Nazis attempt to recruit them to complete the transmitter. Among those affected is Lew Deerhold, a resident alien struggling to make ends meet and pay for his beloved ward Gina's life-saving surgery. Unfortunately, Lew becomes ensnared in the web of deception and peril woven by the spy ring.
