Safe Conduct (2002)

The film explores the French film industry during the Nazi occupation from 1942 to 1944, with a focus on two key figures: Jean Devaivre, an assistant director deeply involved in the resistance, and Jean Aurenche, a screenwriter determined to avoid collaborationist work. Aurenche frequently relocates to steer clear of compromising projects, while Devaivre engages in risky political activities. Despite working for the German production company Continental, Devaivre earns respect within the industry. In contrast, Aurenche's tendency to procrastinate and his womanizing habits have a detrimental impact on both his writing career and personal life.
