Taking place in 1944 in the Ardennes forest region of France, the story centers on an American Intelligence Squad that stumbles upon a German platoon seeking to surrender rather than face the grim prospects of Germany's last war offensive. In a unique and isolated moment amidst the larger conflict, these two groups of men set aside their hostilities and come together to celebrate Christmas.
The surrender plan involves a staged mock battle, intended to be a peaceful gesture. However, tensions rise when one of the soldiers remains unaware of the surrender arrangement, leading to an unexpected and unfortunate turn of events.
