In the serene countryside near Normandy's pristine beaches, Marie finds herself in a state of discontent. The year is 1944, and she is wedded to Jérôme, a somewhat fastidious and passive man who remains detached from the war raging around him. He is resistant to relocating Marie to Paris, her dream destination where she yearns to revel in the lively city life, shop, and partake in endless festivities.
Their decaying château becomes an unexpected lodging for a German military unit, driven by the commanding officer's infatuation with Marie. Simultaneously, a French spy, aligned with the Allies and deeply involved in the planning of D-Day, has his sights set on her as well. Employing a clever ruse, he begins to court her, posing as her brother in front of the Germans.
However, as their passion intensifies, the French spy momentarily forgets his mission. Unexpected acts of heroism surface from an unanticipated source, compelling Marie to make a life-altering choice that will define her destiny.
