Hope and Glory (1987)

A semi-autobiographical work by John Boorman, this project follows the journey of Bill, a nine-year-old boy, as he comes of age in London during World War II. For a young boy, this period in history is an adventure, a disruption of the usual order, rules, and discipline. It also explores how the war liberates the women left behind and the unexpected joy that can come from unexpected events, like when Hitler inadvertently blows up your school.
