Amid the harrowing Nazi occupation of Poland, a new generation of young individuals comes of age. Among them is Stach and his circle of friends, initially engaging in spontaneous acts of rebellion that carry the risk of dire consequences but lack a cohesive purpose.
However, fate takes a pivotal turn when Stach, working as an apprentice, crosses paths with a shop steward who imparts fundamental lessons in Marxian economics. This newfound knowledge ignites a spark within him. When he encounters Dorota, a resolute and captivating leader of the Youth Underground, Stach eagerly volunteers his services. He persuades his friends to join him, transforming them into a dedicated cell within the resistance. In this journey, they taste the essence of courage, discipline, and tragedy.
Yet, beneath the surface, the simmering tension between the Communists and the partisans looms in the background. Both factions share a common goal of opposing the Nazi regime, both are fiercely Polish, yet their paths are set on a collision course of their own.
