Bridge to the Sun (1961)

In 1935, Gwen Harold, a young woman from Tennessee, visits Washington DC and falls in love with Hidenari Terasaki, known as Terry, a Japanese diplomat. Their relationship faces hurdles due to racial tensions and geopolitical challenges. They marry but struggle to adapt to each other's cultures. When World War II begins, Terry is sent back to Japan, and Gwen must decide whether to follow him with their daughter, Mako. Their love is tested as Terry grapples with loyalty to his country and his family's safety in a time of conflict.
