In the nine months leading up to World War II, Britain embarked on a remarkable humanitarian endeavor, a gesture of unparalleled compassion at the time. They initiated an extraordinary rescue mission, extending a lifeline to over 10,000 Jewish and other children from Germany, Austria, and Czechoslovakia. These youngsters, affectionately referred to as "Kinder" (singular: "Kind"), were welcomed into British foster homes and hostels, with the hope of reuniting them with their parents in the future. Tragically, the majority of these children never had the chance to see their families again.
