British Paratrooper Versus Fallschirmjäger: Mediterranean 1942–43

By the latter part of 1942, Britain had established a robust airborne capability that would soon face its first engagements against German airborne forces in North Africa and Sicily. In a series of significant encounters, British airborne infantry engaged their German counterparts in intense battles. These noteworthy clashes occurred twice in North Africa and once at Primosole Bridge in Sicily. The British and German forces possessed comparable training and equipment, along with similar roles and ethos. Both units considered themselves elite and were often assigned diverse tasks dictated by immediate circumstances, showcasing their adaptability in emergencies.
