The ace pilots of the Republic of China Air Force (RoCAF) have long remained enigmatic figures due to the limited access to records after their retreat to Taiwan in 1949, followed by martial law. Now, for the first time, their fascinating story can be unveiled. This book utilizes the most recent research, including declassified archival information and vivid illustrations, to trace the history of the highest-scoring pilots in the RoCAF. It covers their experiences from the outset of the grueling eight-year Sino-Japanese War to the conclusion of the Civil War against the Chinese Communists.
The RoCAF began as a diverse and disorganized group of aircraft and pilots drawn from various provincial air forces. Over time, it evolved into a standardized force under American guidance. In total, 17 aces emerged, achieving kills while flying a wide range of aircraft, from biplanes to F-86 Sabres. This book sheds light on their remarkable journeys and contributions.
