In Montauban in 1944, Julien Dandieu works as a surgeon in the local hospital. Fearing the arrival of the German army in Montauban, he requests his friend Francois to escort his wife and daughter to the remote countryside village where Julien owns an old castle.
A week later, with the hope of reuniting with his family for the weekend, Julien sets out for the village. However, when he arrives, he discovers that the Germans have already occupied the area, setting the stage for a tense and challenging situation in the midst of wartime.
