You're in the Navy Now (1951)

When Lieutenant John Harkness, a recent engineering graduate with a 90-day wonder commission, is appointed as the new captain of a submarine chaser featuring an experimental steam engine, he's optimistic that the seasoned crew of the U.S.S. Teakettle will assist him in achieving the ship's objectives. However, he quickly discovers that both the crew and the officers aboard either share his novice status or possess expertise solely in diesel engines.
