Malaya (1949)

After spending several years abroad, journalist John Royer returns to the United States shortly after the country enters World War II. His confident claim that he can successfully smuggle rubber, a crucial wartime resource, out of Malaya results in a mission to do just that. Royer teams up with an old acquaintance from his past, Carnaghan, who has recently been released from Alcatraz. Together, they travel to Southeast Asia, assuming the identities of Irishmen. Upon arrival, Carnaghan gathers some of his former associates, and with the help of Royer and a few plantation owners, they devise a plan to smuggle the rubber out from under the watchful eyes of the Japanese army.
