Set during a somber Christmas in 1944 at Stalag 17, an American POW camp, the men in Barracks 4, all sergeants, face a pressing issue: there appears to be a breach in security. Escapes are frequently thwarted, with recent attempts leading to tragic deaths. Manfredi and Johnson fell into a trap and were killed. Among the inmates of Barracks 4, particularly the outspoken Duke, suspicion falls heavily on J.J. Sefton. He's known for his resourcefulness, trading with the guards and enjoying privileges others lack. Despite accusations, Sefton vehemently denies collaborating with the Germans or aiding their efforts. He's resolved to endure the war in relative comfort, showing no interest in escaping.
As tensions escalate and mob mentality takes hold, it becomes evident that Sefton must uncover the true traitor within their ranks. Ultimately, he succeeds in identifying the real German agent amidst the inmates, unraveling the mystery and dispelling the cloud of suspicion hanging over him.
