While performing on the radio, Wladislaw Szpilman, a Jewish pianist, was interrupted by an explosion that marked the onset of the German Nazi occupation in Poland. Upon his return home, his family engaged in a heated debate about safeguarding their remaining funds from German eyes. Glancing outside, they noticed their surroundings enclosed by fences, setting the stage for their hardships. Subsequently, their lives descended into a harrowing ordeal. The Germans forcibly deported Szpilman's family, packing them onto a train destined for a concentration camp. Left stranded in the Warsaw Ghetto, Szpilman embarked on a solitary struggle for survival.
